BowieVision (Bowie's best in sound and vision)
BowieVision (Bowie's best in sound and vision)
While others imitate, BowieVision elevates. Foregoing the pretense of wigs and makeup and focusing instead on interpreting David Bowie’s eclectic and expansive musical catalog, BowieVision raises the bar for what a tribute band can be.

Their exhilarating show is better described as a celebration than a tribute. Lead singer Stefan Mitchell shares Bowie’s gift for connecting with a crowd and creating an atmosphere that’s simultaneously epic and intimate, an approach that resonates with audiences on a deeper level than mere impersonation ever could.

Members of Northwest lounge-pop mainstays the Dudley Manlove Quartet and new wave hip-hop unit Purr Gato joined forces in 2013 to share their love of Bowie’s music with audiences in Seattle and beyond. Combining musical dexterity, masterful stage presence, and stunning video projections, BowieVision puts its unique stamp on rock anthems like Rebel Rebel and Suffragette City; the wide-screen balladry of Life on Mars?, Space Oddity, and Changes; mid-70s “plastic soul” (Golden Years, Young Americans, Fame;) art-pop experiments like Fashion, Heroes, and Ashes to Ashes; and the high-sheen Eighties classics Let’s Dance, China Girl, and Blue Jean.

Although Bowie’s personas have been ever-changing, his music is timeless. It’s this realization that elevates BowieVision above the realm of trite nostalgia. It may be a bold statement to make about a “tribute” band, but it’s a fact: BowieVision is the real deal. Accept no imitations

Purr Gato
Purr Gato
Founded in 2010 by veteran jazz & blues vocalist/composer Katrina Kope (lead singer, primary songwriter and keytar/synth player), along with former new-wave guitarist and trip-hop beat maker Tyler Kope (on synths and percussion), and classical and jazz musician Brittany Kohl (on synths and backing vocals), Purr Gato emits an attractive, yet occasionally ominous brand of Dark-Wave-Electro-Clash, combining a wild selection of musical influences to generate their trademark style. Sometime described as, “if Depeche Mode and The Knife had a baby.”

Purr Gato has rotating members such as dancers, local singers and drummers including master flamenco percussionist and rock drummer David Levin. Purr Gato started hitting the Seattle music scene in April 2012. After a string of performances at venues such as Neumos, The Crocodile, Nectar Lounge, The High Dive, The Hard Rock Café and more, they ventured into Electrokitty Studios to record their debut album "Heart Beat", engineered and produced by Gary Reynolds, in December 2012, and released at the Columbia City Theater on June 14th, 2013. Expect a hand full of new music videos and a West Coast tour in 2014 to support their debut album "Heart Beat".
