Raymond Venta (vocals, guitar) and Kenzo Cardenas (drums) return for the group’s next chapter. Venta has spent two years experimenting with songwriting (he lived out of his van while traveling cross- country to write songs) while supporting local, up-and-coming pop acts (Tillie, LAYNE) in his spare time. Cardenas took on a heavy percussion routine, playing drums for local groups Bedbugs and Super Whatevr (Hopeless Records). Both Venta and Cardenas met briefly as side-project Yume, which explored an effect-driven, dream-pop sound primarily rooted in the 90s.
Kid Cadaver recommences with a few, well-deserved notches in its belt. Fans can count on the wistful, melodic songs (which remains Venta’s forte)that the group is known for—but gang vocals and catchy hooks have been traded for a more introspective, controlled approach to songwriting that can only be earned with age. Ever-ambitious, the band’s upcoming EP, Delude, is set for a 2018 release.
